Scope

Aims, scope and focus

Food Reviews International is published by Taylor and Francis Ltd. and is in Zone 2 of Agricultural & Forestry Sciences in the CAS Journal Ranking (2025 upgraded edition). By OpenAlex counts of its recent articles, its largest topics are Phytochemicals and Antioxidant Activities, Meat and Animal Product Quality and Food composition and properties, together about 22.5% of its articles. Its main subfields are Nutrition and Dietetics. (generated from OpenAlex topic counts and CAS ranking data)

Food Reviews International publishes state-of-the-art original reviews concerned with food science and technology, food sustainability, food chemistry, food analysis and composition, food microbiology, food safety and toxicology, functional foods, food processing and engineering, food packaging, food nanotechnology and biotechnology, sensorial science, new product development, food policy and regulation, novel foods, and food innovations (AI, food omics, future foods, smart processing). Articles, written primarily by researchers and practitioners, should examine most recent research progresses, and emerging issues, challenges, and opportunities facing the field and the food industry, and should be of interest to the scientific community and/or the public with global impact. Food Reviews International publishes in-depth and comprehensive review manuscripts that go beyond simple description and summary of literature. We are not in favor of publishing manuscripts which are mainly incremental and add little new information and critical analyses. Submission of original research articles, or submissions with a focus on nutrition, pharmacology, cosmetics, and medicine (including traditional medicine), or bibliometric reviews will not be considered for publication. Authors should keep the citations minimal. Article should only cite necessary references and those that are preferably from most recent publications (within the last 5 years). Offering technical insights into current global food issues, Food Reviews International contains articles of interest for food scientists and technologists, researchers, educators and students, food chemists, food engineers, agriculturists, microbiologists, toxicologists, nutritionists, and professionals in R&D, sales and marketing, government and governing bodies. Peer Review Statement: All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to single-anonymous peer review by independent, expert referees. Submissions are online via ScholarOne Manuscripts. Authors can choose to publish gold open access in this journal. Read the Instructions for Authors for information on how to submit your article.
