FAQ

Before you choose a journal

Read the guides
How do I find the right SCI journal for my paper?

Shortlist journals by research topic first, then check each one's CAS zone, review time, fees, open-access policy and indexing status. You can search journals directly, or paste your abstract into the Journal Finder to get a shortlist.

What is the CAS Journal Ranking?

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Journal Ranking places journals in four zones within each subject category, Zone 1 being the highest, and Chinese universities and research institutions widely use it to evaluate publications. JournalCompass shows its 2025 upgraded edition and 2026 Xinrui edition separately, for major and minor categories.

How should I compare journal rankings?

Always confirm the ranking system, the edition year and whether a zone is for the major or the minor category; zones from different sources or years should never be merged into a single number.

Does the Journal Finder guarantee acceptance?

No. It narrows the search and explains why each journal is suggested; before submitting, check the journal's website, its aims and scope and its latest policies.
