Paper–journal matching

Turn your paper and your requirements into a journal shortlist

Give an abstract, keywords or a PDF, then say what you need on CAS zone, fees, review time or annual volume. The finder looks for journals with a similar scope in two ways, by meaning and by publication topics, checks your stated requirements against structured facts, and has a model check each journal's Aims & Scope against your paper.

Before you submit

  • Titles, abstracts and PDFs are not stored. The title, abstract and keywords go to the model through AI Gateway, with logging off, to check scope; when a PDF has no "Abstract" heading, the text of its first page is sent so the model can find the title and abstract. The full text is never sent
  • Provide an abstract or a PDF, at least one
  • Missing information is flagged and never counted as meeting a requirement
  • Suggestions narrow the search; they do not guarantee acceptance

Suggestions draw on journals whose semantic index is complete

Building your journal shortlist

Connecting…

  1. Reading your paper
  2. Semantic search and topic matching
  3. Fact checks and scoring
  4. Model checks each journal's scope and writes reasonsUsually the longest step, about 20–30 seconds

Your paper is not stored; the model sees only the title, abstract and keywords, never the full text.

How the shortlist is built

  1. The title, abstract, keywords and the start of the introduction are extracted; the paper itself is not stored.
  2. Two recall paths: three semantic vectors per journal (profile, Aims & Scope and publication topics), plus the overlap between your paper's OpenAlex topics and the topics each journal actually publishes.
  3. Your explicit requirements on zone, impact metrics, open access, fees, review time and annual volume are checked against the data; journals low on both text similarity and topic overlap are dropped.
  4. A model checks each journal's Aims & Scope and recent articles, rules "in scope", "uncertain" or "out of scope", drops the out-of-scope ones and writes the reasons, risks and what to verify before submitting.
