Scope

Aims, scope and focus

PSYCHOLOGY & MARKETING is published by Wiley-Blackwell and is in Zone 2 of Management in the CAS Journal Ranking (2025 upgraded edition, Top journal). By OpenAlex counts of its recent articles, its largest topics are Consumer Behavior in Brand Consumption and Identification, Digital Marketing and Social Media and Customer Service Quality and Loyalty, together about 44.8% of its articles. Its main subfields are Marketing. (generated from OpenAlex topic counts and CAS ranking data)

Psychology & Marketing (P&M) publishes original research articles, reviews, and research notes addressing the application of psychological theories and techniques to marketing. As an interdisciplinary journal, P&M encourages courageous and bold new ideas with a strong focus on advancing new theoretical and substantive knowledge. P&M fosters the exploration of online and offline marketing phenomena spanning the full spectrum of products (goods and services), price, promotion (advertising, publicity, public relations, and selling), place (channels and distribution), and politics (public opinion, law, and ethics), all revolving around the individual and collective psyche of consumers. P&M requires research designs that meet a high standard of methodological rigor and transparency. To ensure robustness and cumulative knowledge development, the journal expects submissions to include multi-study empirical packages whenever appropriate. Such packages should demonstrate conceptual replication, methodological triangulation, or complementary testing strategies. Importantly, at least one study within the empirical package should demonstrate ecological validity, for example through field data, behavioral measures, marketplace data, or other designs that capture real-world consumer behavior. Manuscripts may be conceptual or empirical in nature and may feature quantitative and/or qualitative analyses, accompanied by well-illustrated tables, figures, and supplementary materials to enhance clarity and transparency. P&M expects submissions to be free of fatal methodological flaws and to offer generalizable insights that go beyond a single cross-sectional study relying solely on self-reported behavioral intentions. Purely systematic literature reviews that synthesize prior findings are generally not within the journal’s scope.
