The journal was founded in 1914 and named in honour of brothers Jan Svatopluk Presl (1791–1849) and Karel Bořivoj Presl (1794–1852), distinguished Bohemian botanists. It is published quarterly by the Czech Botanical Society. The current issue of Preslia (98/2) was published on 17 June 2026. Authors cover a publication fee of 25,000 CZK / 1,000 EUR, with a discounted rate of 15,000 CZK / 600 EUR for members of the Czech Botanical Society. A new community resource for Alpine botany: flow-cytometric screening of ~45,000 silica-dried samples yielded genome-size and ploidy data for 1,103 plant species.
