Presentación La revista Novitates Caribaea es una publicación científica de revisión por pares y semestral (sale en enero y julio de cada año), editada y financiada por el Museo Nacional de Historia Natural “Prof. Eugenio de Jesús Marcano”, una institución del Estado Dominicano orientada al estudio y conservación de la biodiversidad de la Hispaniola y la región del Caribe, así como a la educación y la divulgación científica. Está ubicado en Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte, en la ciudad de Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. Fue construido en el año 1974 y abrió sus puertas al público en 1982. Es una institución autónoma con personería jurídica y presupuestaria, adscrita al Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales mediante la Ley General de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (Ley 64-00). La revista comenzó a editarse en el 1999 y durante varios años publicó un número anualmente. A partir de julio del 2018, se publica semestralmente (enero y julio). Todos sus contenidos tienen acceso abierto (ver Políticas de acceso abierto en sección Acerca de), y está incluida en Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
