Focus, Scope and Article Types The Nordic Journal of STEM Education is a scholarly peer-reviewed, open-access journal publishing in the broad field of educational research and development in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) higher education. We invite contributions that address pedagogical, educational, and academic developments or studies. Nordic perspectives are our main focus. However, articles with a wider scope will be considered if the authors have positioned them to be relevant to issues in Nordic STEM higher education. NJSTEME invites contributes classified as both the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER). There is considerable overlap between these approaches, with SoTL historically emphasizing reflective teaching practices (in which the scholarship may center on your own teaching), and DBER focusing on taking an interdisciplinary, scientific approach to teaching and learning. In general, we encourage research articles that include: An evidence-based, theoretically grounded rationale for the work described A clear research question or testable hypothesis Sound methodology that can be replicated based on the information provided Data that align with the stated question or hypothesis Conclusions and critical reflections that are justified based on the data presented Findings that advance our understanding of teaching and learning in Nordic STEM higher education The Nordic Journal of STEM Education mainly publishes Research articles (ideally up to 6000 words, however longer papers may be considered if warranted by interest and quality of the contribution), but we will also consider Perspective articles (up to 3000 words), and Teaching Tools (up to 2500 words). See author guidelines for more information about the article types. We intend to publish continuously as articles become accepted for publication, with one Volume (in one or two issues) per calendar year. The journal welcomes submissions in English, Norwegian, Swedish or Danish. All contributions must include an English language abstract (up to 300 words). For authors writing in English, we welcome additional abstracts in any Nordic language to broaden the appeal of your work and make it culturally relevant. In addition, the journal publishes proceedings from the biannual MNT conference. Peer Review Process The journal follows a standard, single-blind review process.
