Scope
Aims, scope and focus
Inorganic and Nano-Metal Chemistry is published by Taylor and Francis Ltd. and is in Zone 4 of Chemistry in the CAS Journal Ranking (2025 upgraded edition). By OpenAlex counts of its recent articles, its largest topics are Metal-Organic Frameworks: Synthesis and Applications, Metal complexes synthesis and properties and Nanoparticles: synthesis and applications, together about 39.7% of its articles. Its main subfields are Organic Chemistry. (generated from OpenAlex topic counts and CAS ranking data)
Inorganic and Nano-Metal Chemistry aims to publish impactful research articles, critical review articles, comments, and research letters on functional nanomaterials for addressing important and emergent problems in energy, sustainability, medicine, defense, and the environment. The journal will emphasize transformative advances in nanomaterials aimed at addressing complex and future challenges. Incremental, routine, or derivative studies, regardless of their rigor, will fall outside the scope of the journal. Instead, the focus will be on innovative research with significant transformative or groundbreaking potential. Inorganic and Nano-Metal Chemistry will focus on the intersection of materials engineering and nanoscience, emphasizing their potential to address pressing global challenges in energy, sustainability, medicine, defense, and environmental protection. The journal will publish cutting-edge research in, but not limited to, the following areas, aligning with its renewed focus: Contrast agents (e.g., ultrasound, fluorescence, CT, and photoacoustic imaging) In vitro diagnostics Regenerative medicine Sustainable food and agriculture Nano-, electro- and photocatalysis 2D materials (e.g., perovskites, MXenes, graphenes) Emerging micropollutants (e.g., PFAS, micro- and nanoplastics) and water conservation Energy harvesting, conversion, storage, distribution Modest modifications to existing nanoscale synthesis strategies, such as using phytochemical extracts for metal reduction in nanoparticle production or combining established nanoscale components, will generally be regarded as incremental advances and fall outside the scope unless a compelling case is made for substantially improved performance metrics in a critical application. Readership is intended to include materials scientists, chemists, engineers, physicists, biomedical researchers, environmental scientists, analytical scientists, and policy makers from related academia, industry and government. Although the primary emphasis will be placed on original research contributions, review articles on emerging topics related to advanced functional materials will be considered. Review articles, as well as target articles and discussions, must be approved or invited by the Editor-in-Chief. The journal may also feature thematic issues focused on key topics in energy, medicine, defense, and the environment. Authors wishing to submit should review the Instructions for Authors.
