(generated from OpenAlex topic counts and CAS ranking data)
European Geriatric Medicine is the official journal of the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS). European Geriatric Medicine focuses specifically on publishing articles related to Geriatric Medicine rather than the broader field of Gerontology. It aims to support geriatricians who treat complex old and very old patients. Launched in 2010, its scope is to provide a comprehensive and updated forum on all aspects of Geriatric Medicine from clinical and academic perspectives. The EuGMS aims through this journal to promote Geriatric Medicine in all settings, including acute and subacute hospital care, rehabilitation, nursing homes, primary care and general and specialized outpatient clinics. The EuGMS is also interested in functionality in old age, comprehensive geriatric assessment, geriatric syndromes, education and models of care in health services. Articles on transitional research based on ageing biology will only be considered when findings are relevant to geriatric care. European Geriatric Medicine is not particularly interested in epidemiological studies or studies that describe models of care without testing their effectiveness. European Geriatric Medicine publishes original research, scoping or systematic reviews, brief reports and articles on the humanities related to old age or geriatric medicine. The journal also publishes solicited editorials and special articles, which are typically the result of EuGMS activities or the work of special interest groups. Special issues are always curated by guest editors. The journal does not publish unsolicited narrative reviews or other types of articles. A panel of internationally renowned and highly specialized scientists serve as Associate Editors managing articles in specific fields. Most areas of geriatric medicine are covered. This is made clear on the journal website, where you can find the focus area of each Associate Editor and the collections of articles in different areas of the specialty. Research in these areas has a higher chance of being published. European Geriatric Medicine does not publish research in the social sciences or other broader aspects of gerontology and ageing. European Geriatric Medicine has a global reach and is intended for geriatricians and other members of the geriatric team, such as nurses, therapists, pharmacists and educators). It is also intended for researchers, administrators and decision makers, as well as students and professionals working in borderline specialties
