ETERNAL (English, Teaching, Learning and Research) is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing theoretically informed and methodologically rigorous research on the transformation of English language education. The journal explores how technological, cultural, social, institutional, and educational changes are reshaping the ways English is taught, learned, assessed, researched, and used. ETERNAL provides a scholarly space for research that goes beyond describing local educational practices to explain emerging developments, challenge established assumptions, and generate insights with relevance beyond the immediate research context. ETERNAL brings together scholarship at the intersection of emerging technologies, human agency, language and culture, educational transformation, and research innovation. Particular attention is given to research on artificial intelligence and digital language education; teacher and learner agency and identity; teacher education and professional development; multilingualism, translanguaging, interculturality, and Global Englishes; curriculum and assessment; and innovative approaches to researching English language education. The journal welcomes theoretically significant and empirically grounded research from diverse linguistic, cultural, educational, and geographical contexts, with particular interest in perspectives from the Global South and other underrepresented contexts. ETERNAL seeks to connect contextually grounded evidence with broader international conversations, positioning diverse educational realities not merely as sites of data collection but as important sources of knowledge, theory, and critical insight. ETERNAL publishes original empirical studies, conceptual and theoretical contributions, methodological innovations, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and other rigorous research syntheses that advance understanding of English language education. The journal is published twice a year, in June and December. At its core, ETERNAL asks a broader question: How is English language education being transformed, and what does this transformation mean for teachers, learners, institutions, and societies? The journal prioritizes research that demonstrates originality, theoretical significance, methodological rigor, contextual depth, and implications for international scholarship, educational practice, or policy.
