Edukacja Elementarna w Teorii i Praktyce (EETP) jest recenzowanym, otwartym czasopismem naukowym ukazującym się kwartalnie, poświęconym międzynarodowym i porównawczym badaniom nad wczesną edukacją i opieką nad dzieckiem, edukacją przedszkolną oraz wczesnoszkolną. Czasopismo stanowi forum naukowej refleksji nad relacją teorii i praktyki w kształceniu i wychowaniu dzieci w kontekście rodzinnym, społecznym i instytucjonalnym, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem praktyki edukacyjnej opartej na dowodach naukowych oraz implikacji dla polityki edukacyjnej. Celem czasopisma jest publikowanie oryginalnych badań empirycznych, analiz teoretycznych oraz artykułów przeglądowych (systematycznych przeglądów literatury/systematic reviews), które wnoszą nową wiedzę do międzynarodowej debaty naukowej na temat wczesnej edukacji i edukacji wczesnoszkolnej. Zakres tematyczny czasopisma obejmuje w szczególności: wczesną edukację i opiekę nad dzieckiem (ECCE), edukację przedszkolną oraz wczesnoszkolną, kształcenie, rozwój zawodowy i warunki pracy nauczycieli edukacji elementarnej, wychowanie dziecka w środowisku rodzinnym, społecznym i instytucjonalnym, historyczne, kulturowe i społeczne konteksty dzieciństwa oraz wychowania, studia nad dzieciństwem (childhood studies), metodologię badań edukacyjnych w obszarze edukacji elementarnej i wczesnodziecięcej. Czasopismo publikuje badania empiryczne (ilościowe, jakościowe oraz z wykorzystaniem metod mieszanych), prace teoretyczne, badania interdyscyplinarne oraz systematyczne przeglądy literatury. Podstawową dyscypliną naukową czasopisma jest pedagogika / nauki społeczne, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem pedagogiki przedszkolnej i wczesnoszkolnej. Jednocześnie czasopismo przyjmuje artykuły naukowe wysokiej jakości z dyscyplin pokrewnych, takich jak psychologia, nauki o rodzinie, socjologia, historia, literaturoznawstwo oraz inne dziedziny nauk humanistycznych i społecznych ściśle związane z badaniami nad dzieciństwem, edukacją i rozwojem dziecka.
