El crecimiento de la sociedad de la información y la comunicación hacen que, entre otros, los sistemas económicos, políticos y culturales de los países tengan en cuenta el rápido crecimiento que los medios de comunicación en general y las herramientas como internet en particular están teniendo. Dentro del ámbito educativo la red supone ser vista y entendida como una puerta a un mundo donde la información, el intercambio de experiencias, el desarrollo de aprendizajes, etc. hacen que la perspectiva educomunicativa emprendida por algunos investigadores se convierta en una necesidad. EDMETIC, Revista de Educación Mediática y TIC nace con el objetivo claro de potenciar la línea educomunicativa que desde la Unión Europea se está demandando. Abierta a experiencias de investigación y de aula y a aportaciones reflexivas, emprende su andadura invitando a toda la comunidad educativa a promover desde sus páginas la educación en medios de comunicación y en las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación en todos los niveles y ámbitos en los que la educación tiene cabida. Desde aquí esperamos que entre todos abramos una puerta al debate y a la reflexión mediática.
