The Video Journal of Education and Pedagogy (VJEP) uses pedagogy in its broadest sense: the art and science of learning, sharing knowledge, and creating understanding across all contexts, fields, and throughout life. The journal publishes articles where scholars, practitioners, artists, designers, and advocates engage with the visual generatively and critically. Whether researching, teaching, making, advocating, demonstrating practice, or reimagining, this is a space to explore how the visual shapes learning, knowing, and meaning-making. An article in VJEP consists of written and visual/video components that operate together as an integrated whole. Neither mode subordinates the other; rather, they operate in dialogue to render meaning that neither could alone. Visual forms may include video, photography, data visualization, animation, mixed media, and other modalities. As the first video journal of education and pedagogy to embed video directly within articles, VJEP offers unique possibilities for multimodal scholarship. (See our submission guidelines for technical specifications and article structure). The journal welcomes articles that reshape conventions, narratives, and voice through the visual; explore how technology alters ways of seeing; examine how visualities enable modes of knowing beyond metrics; and engage with how visual pedagogies respond to social justice concerns. Scholarship that renders the typically invisible visible is central to the journal's scope, spanning formal and informal education, workplace learning, digital humanities, community contexts, and beyond. VJEP publishes scholarship where removing the visual would fundamentally unmake the work. VJEP values rigorous articles that are exploratory, inventive, and unafraid to experiment. This is a space for scholarship that advances the field through open-ended, multiplicitous approaches alive with possibility.
