Современная трансплантология – это многогранная область медицины, связанная с бурным развитием инновационных технологий, интегрирующая и использующая новейшие достижения во многих областях клинической медицины, таких как хирургия, анестезиология-реаниматология, сердечно-сосудистая хирургия и др., аккумулирующая достижения иммунологии, молекулярной биологии и биохимии, биотехнологии, точных наук. Развитие трансплантологии немыслимо без связи с развитием регенеративной медицины, созданием искусственных и биоискусственных органов и систем замещения жизненно важных функций организма. Кардиология, нефрология, гастроэнтерология, эндокринология и целый ряд других медицинских специальностей составляют клиническую основу трансплантологии. В то же время, ни одна из перечисленных специальностей в полной мере не может отражать сущность и специфику научных работ по трансплантологии и искусственным органам. Организация и координация донорства органов – серьезная государственная задача, требующая активной работы органов здравоохранения различных уровней. Практическая трансплантология в нашей стране стремительно развивается. В последние годы стали активно работать многие центры, где выполняются сотни операций трансплантации, сердца, почек, печени, легких, поджелудочной железы. Расширение географии трансплантологической помощи населению Российской Федерации и рост числа специалистов, участвующих в этом процессе, ставит перед журналом «Вестник трансплантологии и искусственных органов» задачи обеспечения новейшей научно-практической информацией и возможностью обмена опытом, приобретения и совершенствования профессиональных знаний в области трансплантологии, организации и координации донорства органов широкого круга специалистов. Журнал представляет своим читателям возможность познакомиться как с российскими, так и с мировыми достижениями в области трансплантологии и науки об искусственных органах. С этой целью регулярно публикуются обзоры литературы, результаты исследований зарубежных авторов, опыт работы коллег из Беларуси, Латвии, Украины, Франции и других стран. В Редакционной коллегии и Редакционном совете журнала сотрудничают ведущие специалисты России, Беларуси, Польши, США и других стран.
