Uru: Revista de Comunicación y Cultura es una publicación académica semestral del Área de Comunicación de la Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, Sede Ecuador. La revista tiene como objetivo debatir acerca de los procesos y los fenómenos comunicacionales y su repercusión en la sociedad actual, a partir de análisis y estudios que vinculen las prácticas y usos sociales comunicativos con los saberes y contextos socio culturales, tecnológicos y políticos. Debido a su naturaleza, la revista no solo recibe textos académicos sino que los vincula con la realidad próxima y propone entre sus lineamientos que sean debates teórico metodológicos de innovación en el campo comunicacional. La misión de la revista URU es posicionarse como una publicación académica de referencia en los estudios de comunicación del área andina y en el continente como fuente de consulta continua para estudiantes de posgrado y doctorado, a partir de las necesidades teórico-metodológicas que se divulgan en la publicación. La revista está dirigida a estudiantes de posgrado, docentes universitarios e investigadores de Hispanoamérica, que investiguen y estudien sobre todas las áreas del campo científico de la comunicación y el periodismo, comunicación y cultura, artes y comunicación, humanidades y comunicación, con una decidida apertura a la participación de autores ajenos a la entidad editora. Los artículos que se publican son inéditos, en idioma castellano, evaluados por pares académicos anónimos, vinculados a universidades y centros de investigación de América Latina, Norteamérica y Europa. La revista se estructura en las siguientes secciones: ensayos, monográfico y reseñas. Cada trabajo cuenta con un Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
