Časopis Univerzitetska misao Univerziteta u Novom Pazaru izlazi od osnivanja ove visokoškolske institucije (2002). Izdavački centar ima za cilj da pruži podršku naučno-nastavnom radu Univerziteta u Novom Pazaru, ali i drugim naučnim i visokoškolskim institucijama, kao i da afirmiše nauku i naučno istraživački rad u naučnim oblastima koje se izučavaju na Univerzitetu. Od samog svog osnivanja Izdavački centar publikuje časopis u kom svoje naučne radove objavljuju kako renomirani univerzitetski profesori, tako i mladi istraživači. Radovi su svrstani u određene kategorije (tematske oblasti*), u skladu sa uputstvom, podležu oceni dva recenzenta. Rad će se objaviti jedino na osnovu pozitivnih recenzija, o čemu će Uređivački odbor obavestiti prvog autora. Recenzenti se biraju među stručnjacima u predmetnoj oblasti istraživanja na koju se odnosi rad predložen za objavljivanje. Jezici časopisa su srpski, bosanski i engleski. Autor (autori) je potpuno odgovoran za sadržaj, verodostojnost i originalnost rada. Vremenski period u kojem će rad biti objavljen zavisi o tome koliko rukopis (tekst) odgovara kvalitetu po mišljenju recenzenata i predloženom uputstvu. Radovi koji zahtevaju određene dorade biće vraćeni prvom autoru pre ili posle recenzije. Naučni i stručni radovi su recenzirani radovi sa izvesnim naučnim i/ili stručnim doprinosom. Radovi se objavljuju po međunarodnim standardima za ovu vrstu publikovanja, sa obaveznim apstraktima, naslovima i ključnim rečima na engleskom i srpskom jeziku. Pregledni radovi su po pozivu gde se daju detaljani pregledi određenih oblasti.
