Метою журналу «Український журнал з бібліотекознавства та інформаційних наук» є розвиток теоретико-методологічного та прикладного знання у сфері інформаційної, бібліотечної та архівної справи шляхом публікації оригінальних рецензованих досліджень, які відзначаються науковою новизною та практичною значущістю. Важливими принципами діяльності є дотримання академічної доброчесності та сприяння інтеграції української науки у міжнародний науково-комунікаційний простір. Основні завдання видання – формування авторитетного науково-комунікаційного середовища, підтримка інноваційних і міждисциплінарних досліджень, інтеграція української наукової спільноти у глобальний простір, впровадження міжнародних стандартів редакційної етики, підвищення якості освіти та професійної практики. Журнал також забезпечує платформу для апробації й поширення результатів досліджень у галузях бібліотекознавства, книгознавства, архівознавства, документознавства та інформаційних технологій, сприяє розвитку соціокультурної комунікації та впровадженню інновацій у практику інформаційно-бібліотечної діяльності. Структура видання передбачає такі основні рубрики: «Теоретичні та прикладні аспекти функціонування інформаційного простору»; «Бібліотека у цифровому середовищі»; «Бібліотечна та архівна практика: інформаційні та соціокультурні аспекти»; «Бібліотечно-інформаційна освіта»; «Архівна наука та практика в умовах воєнного стану в Україні». Журнал започатковано у 2018 році для фахівців бібліотечно-інформаційної сфери, науковців, викладачів закладів вищої освіти, докторантів, аспірантів, магістрів та всіх, хто досліджує теоретико-прикладні аспекти у сфері соціальних комунікацій, інформаційно-комунікаційних технологій та бібліотечної, інформаційної та архівної справи.
