Treballs de Sociolingüística Catalana és des del 1977 l'anuari de la Societat Catalana de Sociolingüística (abans Grup Català de Sociolingüística), filial de l'Institut d'Estudis Catalans. D'acord amb els objectius estatutaris de la Societat, Treballs de Sociolingüística Catalana estimula i reflecteix la recerca en sociolingüística, entesa en el sentit ampli i integrador que l'ha caracteritzada en els països de llengua catalana. Són doncs benvinguts a la revista tots els articles inèdits en els camps de la sociologia de la llengua, l'antropologia de la llengua, el variacionisme, la psicologia social de la llengua, la política i planificació lingüístiques i el dret lingüístic, etc. especialment els referits a la nostra àrea lingüística i als processos de normalització lingüística, de manera preferent en llengua catalana. Les persones destinatàries de la revista són tant especialistes en sociolingüística, dins i fora dels àmbits universitaris, com ciutadans amatents a conèixer en profunditat la situació sociolingüística als nostres països.
