General Information Text Matters: A Journal of Literature, Theory and Culture, based at the University of Lodz, is an international and interdisciplinary journal, which seeks to engage in contemporary debates in the humanities by inviting contributions from literary and cultural studies intersecting with literary theory, gender studies, history, philosophy and religion. Text Matters was founded and developed by Professor Dorota Filipczak (1963-2021). Focus and Scope The journal focuses on textual realities, but contributions related to art, music, film and media studies addressing the text are also invited. Submissions in English should relate to the key issues delineated in calls for articles which will be placed on the website in advance. The journal also features reviews of recently published books, and interviews with writers and scholars whose work has been recognized in the areas addressed in TM. Responses to the articles are more than welcome so as to make the journal a forum of lively academic debate. TM is based in a university in central Poland, but its intercontinental advisory board of internationally renowned scholars makes it possible to connect diverse central perspectives. The style sheet and other useful information can be found on our website. We welcome texts presenting current research within the overall thematic scope of the journal. Each issue of Text Matters has a "themed section," devoted to the issue’s main topic, and one or more sections of thematically linked articles devoted to other subjects. There is no separate Call for Papers for these additional sections, and no submission deadline. The editorial team processes submissions as they are received, on an ongoing basis. This naturally means that, when editorial work on a current issue has progressed beyond a certain point, an accepted article may be apportioned to a subsequent issue. All articles should be accompanied by an abstract (max. 250 words) and a short biographical note (max. 150 words). Text Matters: A Journal of Literature, Theory and Culture is produced by academics from the Institute of English Studies with assistance from the Institute of Polish Studies at the University of Lodz. The journal is published and distributed electronically by Lodz University Press with financial support from the literary departments of the Institute of English Studies. Its digital version is the version of record. Contributions to Text Matters are peer-reviewed (double-blind review). Nu
