TEANGA (the Irish word for 'language') is a bilingual academic research-oriented journal which publishes peer-reviewed articles, as well as project reports, book reviews and other contributions in applied linguistics. Research articles are sometimes based on presentations from the annual conference, but submissions are not limited to these. While issues of TEANGA are often focused on a particular theme, coverage of a range of local and international issues is also maintained. We encourage submissions with a solid theoretical foundation and rigorous methodology, but also innovation and creativity in researching new areas of applied linguistics and related fields. TEANGA Publication Statement TEANGA is the official journal of the Irish Association for Applied Linguistics (IRAAL). TEANGA has previously been the yearbook of IRAAL as well as the IRAAL annual conference proceedings publication. TEANGA publishes at least once per year, with special issues appearing not more than once per year. As of 2017, TEANGA is an open access, digital-only publication. TEANGA publishes original empirical and theoretical articles concerned with language and linguistics, especially, but not limited to, applied linguistics in Ireland. Critical literature reviews may also be acceptable, as well as theoretical explorations of topics related to language and linguistics. TEANGA also publishes book reviews that may be of interest to our readership. From time to time, TEANGA will invite an article that is exempt from peer review. TEANGA will also occasionally invite project reports that are published without peer review. All other submissions are subject to double-blind peer review. The Editor(s) hold final decision over whether or not to publish an article, using the peer reviews as guidance but not as sole arbiters. Articles published in TEANGA must be original pieces of scholarship and must not have been published elsewhere without sig
