South Asian Studies is the humanities journal of the British Association of South Asian Studies (BASAS) and publishes twice a year. The journal was founded in 1985 and re-launched in 2016. We publish original research in the arts and humanities of South Asia. Our geographical focus is on Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. We welcome submissions over a range of time periods, from the ancient to the contemporary. We encourage submissions that look at artefacts, texts, and visual materials through an array of disciplines in the human sciences such as (but not limited to): anthropology, archaeology, architectural history, art history, ethnomusicology, history of science and technology, labour studies, museology, philology, philosophy and theology. South Asian Studies takes a generous approach to illustrations and especially welcomes submissions with original drawings, images, and photographs. We welcome regular submissions from early-career as well as established scholars. We are open to proposals for themed special issues. Peer Review Statement All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor and if found suitable for further consideration, a peer review by independent anonymous expert referees. Submissions are double-anonymized peer-reviewed in order to ensure the highest standards of original scholarship. Manuscripts for consideration should be sent to the Editor at sas_editor@bengaluru.sciencegallery.com.
