Poszukiwania naukowe jest interdyscyplinarnym czasopismem naukowym o wyraźnie określonym profilu tematycznym, wydawanym przez Towarzystwo Naukowe Franciszka Salezego i poświęconym edukacji, wychowaniu, formacji oraz rozwojowi dzieci, młodzieży i młodych dorosłych. Podstawową ramę naukową czasopisma stanowią pedagogika i nauki o wychowaniu. Czasopismo publikuje również prace z dyscyplin pokrewnych, w szczególności psychologii, socjologii, nauk o rodzinie, teologii, filozofii, prawa, historii, antropologii i nauk o mediach. Badania z tych obszarów powinny wykazywać bezpośredni i merytoryczny związek z centralnym przedmiotem badawczym czasopisma.
