SÜHFD ile hukuk alanında özgün ve bilimsel makalelerin yayımlanması suretiyle ulusal ve uluslararası literatüre katkı sağlamak amaçlanmaktadır.Dergimizin hitap ettiği okuyucu kitlesi hukuk öğrencileri ve hukuk uygulayıcıları başta olmak üzere sosyal bilimlere ilgi duyan tüm araştırmacıları kapsar. SÜHFD, yılda dört kez (Mart, Haziran, Eylül, Aralık) hem elektronik ortamda hem de basılı olarak yayımlanan ve uluslararası indekslerde taranan hakemli bir dergidir. Dergimiz ULAKBİM TR Dizin tarafından taranmakta olup Akademik Teşvik Ödeneği Yönetmeliğine uygundur. Kamu hukuku ve özel hukuk alanlardaki araştırma makalelerinin yanı sıra karar incelemeleri, mevzuat değerlendirmesi, kitap incelemesi ve çeviriler de dergide yer almaktadır. Derginin yayın dili, Türkçe veya diğer Avrupa dilleridir.Dergimizde alan editörlüğü uygulaması vardır. Editörlük kurulu tarafından belirlenen kriterlere göre gerçekleştirilecek inceleme neticesinde yayımlanmaya uygun görülmeyen makaleler alan editörleri tarafından doğrudan reddedilir.Dergimizde Almanca, Fransızca ve İngilizce dil editörleri ve tüm makaleleri incelemeye yetkili yazım dili editörü bulunmaktadır. Bu dillerde gönderilen makaleler ilgili dil editörü ve yazım dili editörü incelemesinden geçtikten sonra değerlendirmeye alınır.Dergide yayımlanan çalışmalarda ileri sürülen görüşlerden dolayı doğabilecek tüm sorumluluklar yazarlara aittir. Yayımlanma sürecindeki ya da yayım sonrası meydana gelecek herhangi bir zarardan editörler kurulunun bir sorumluluğu yoktur. Dergimiz editöryal süreçleri tamamıyla dergipark üzerinden yürütmekte olup mail adresimizden gönderilen makalelerin editöryal süreçleri başlatılmamaktadır.Dergimiz WOS kapsamında Government&Law, International Relations, Public Administration ve Social Issues alanlarında makaleleri kabul etmektedir.
