The journal is dedicated to advancing scholarly research on Customary Law and the diverse customary legal traditions, institutions, and normative systems that operate across societies and jurisdictions worldwide. SASI provides a specialized scholarly forum for rigorous research on the formation, development, application, recognition, transformation, and contemporary relevance of Customary Law. The journal examines how customary legal norms and institutions regulate social relations, governance, justice, dispute resolution, community affairs, land and natural resources, cultural life, and other dimensions of society, as well as how Customary Law interacts with state law, religious law, international law, human rights frameworks, and other normative orders. SASI welcomes doctrinal, empirical, comparative, socio-legal, anthropological, historical, theoretical, and interdisciplinary research. The journal particularly values original scholarship that offers substantive theoretical contributions, rigorous empirical findings, sound legal analysis, meaningful comparative insights where appropriate, critical examination of legal developments, or interdisciplinary perspectives that advance knowledge and understanding of Customary Law. The journal's areas of interest include, but are not limited to, Customary Legal Systems, Customary Norms, Customary Institutions, Customary Governance, Customary Justice, Customary Dispute Resolution, Living Law, Legal Pluralism, Indigenous Legal Systems, Indigenous Peoples' Rights, Traditional and Indigenous Knowledge, Customary Land and Resource Rights, Environmental Governance, and the interaction between Customary Law and state, religious, and international legal orders. SASI seeks to bring diverse legal traditions, jurisdictions, and scholarly perspectives into dialogue through high-quality research on Customary Law. The journal welcomes original

Review & acceptance

Review time and acceptance

Review time from article dates manuscript dates registered with PubMed · to

Too few articlesOnly 1 articles from the last 24 months carry both submission and acceptance dates, too few for a median

Only articles that were accepted and published are counted, not the time spent on rejected manuscripts, so this usually runs longer than a publisher's "time to first decision".
