Важнейшими задачами журнала являются: обобщение научных и практических достижений в области кардиологии, повышение научной и практической квалификации врачей кардиологов. Научная концепция издания предполагает публикацию современных достижений в области кардиологии, результатов научных исследований, результатов национальных и международных клинических исследований. К публикации в журнале приглашаются как отечественные, так и зарубежные ученые и врачи, работающие в области кардиологии, а также врачи других специальностей. В журнале освещаются различные вопросы по специальности «кардиология» и смежным специальностям. Каждый номер журнала имеет определенную тематику: публикуются материалы по исследованиям артериальной гипертонии, сахарного диабета, метаболического синдрома, кардиомиопатиям, ишемической болезни сердца, ишемического инсульта, методам ресинхронизирующей кардиографии и эхокардиографии, интервенционной кардиологии и кардиохирургии, профилактике сердечно-сосудистых заболеваний, кардиогенетике, трансляционной медицине и аритмиям. Основная направленность издания — научные статьи, посвященные оригинальным и экспериментальным исследованиям, вопросам фармакотерапии и кардиохирургии сердечно-сосудистых заболеваний, новым методам диагностики. Рассматриваются следующие рукописи — оригинальные статьи (результаты клинических исследований), обзоры литературы, клинические случаи, мнения по проблеме.
