Основные задачи журнала: обобщение научно-практических исследований, повышение квалификации специалистов, освещение актуальных глобальных проблем в области паразитологии как в фундаментальном, так и в прикладном аспекте. «Российский паразитологический журнал» предназначен для ветеринарной, биологической, медицинской и агрономической общественности в России, странах СНГ и Дальнего Зарубежья как единственное в стране издание по ветеринарной паразитологии и фитогельминтологии. Журнал принимает к публикации оригинальные статьи и обзоры. Авторский коллектив журнала представлен учеными научно-исследовательских институтов, научно-педагогическими работниками учебных заведений высшего профессионального образования и специалистами в области паразитологии. "Российский паразитологический журнал" объединяет широкую аудиторию паразитологов, работающих в разных направлениях и представляющие все регионы России (от Владивостока до Мурманска), страны Ближнего и Дальнего Зарубежья. В журнале рассматриваются актуальные и сложные глобальные проблемы паразитологии, которые охватывают широкий в географическом аспекте диапазон исследований (Россия, Словакия, Польша, ОАЭ и др.).
