Criada por professoras/es pesquisadoras/es do Departamento de Geografia da Faculdade de Formação de Professores da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ – FFP) e posteriormente vinculada ao seu programa de pós-graduação, a Revista Tamoios busca realizar seu fazer geográfico por meio do trabalho indissociável entre ensino, pesquisa e extensão. O periódico é um canal de interação e construção de conhecimento rigoroso da comunidade geográfica brasileira e estrangeira que, ao mesmo tempo, não abre mão da aposta na interdisciplinaridade como estratégia para potencializar o intercâmbio de ideias e a colaboração entre pesquisadores das mais diversas disciplinas. Ainda assim, os saberes geográficos e educativos conformam um de seus núcleos primordiais. A Tamoios busca, portanto, ofertar ao debate acadêmico reflexões que demonstrem a heterogeneidade, as dinâmicas e complexidades dos espaços e de seus processos de produção material e simbólica. Seu trabalho se concretiza nos seus mais de 20 anos de publicação contínua, coroados pelo crescente reconhecimento da revista em âmbito nacional e internacional.
