Publicada desde 2010, a REP é um periódico em sistema de duplo-cego de avaliação por pares, cujo escopo é multidisciplinar de ciência política, sociologia, antropologia, direito e filosofia. Com publicação semestral, traz artigos de autores nacionais e estrangeiros, como compilação ou dossiês temáticos. Todos os números trazem, ainda, uma seção a mais, dedicada a entrevistas, ensaios, críticas de arte e/ou resenhas críticas de obras acadêmicas publicadas há até 2 (dois) anos. Conforme o resultado do Qualis Periódicos 2017-2020 / CAPES, a REP, vinculada ao Programa de Pós-graduação em Ciência Política da Universidade Federal Fluminense, manteve sua nota A4 e sua posição entre os periódicos do país.
