Economía y Sociedad es una revista académica arbitrada y de acceso abierto, editada por la Escuela de Economía de la Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica (ESEUNA). Se publica de manera ininterrumpida desde 1996 y constituye un espacio para la difusión de investigaciones originales en los campos de la economía y las ciencias sociales. Desde 2019, se publica exclusivamente en formato digital y, a partir de 2026, adopta la modalidad de publicación continua, con un volumen anual cuyo cierre editorial se realiza el 31 de diciembre de cada año. La revista publica artículos científicos originales e inéditos, así como artículos de revisión, que contribuyen al análisis y la comprensión de los procesos económicos y sociales, con especial énfasis en las dinámicas del desarrollo, las políticas públicas y los principales desafíos socioeconómicos de América Latina y el Caribe. Su orientación pluralista promueve la diversidad de enfoques teóricos y metodológicos, así como el intercambio académico desde una perspectiva crítica, orientada a la generación de conocimiento y a la construcción de propuestas de desarrollo sustentadas en la justicia social y la sostenibilidad ambiental.
