El objetivo de la Revista de Filología y Lingüística de la Universidad de Costa Rica es la divulgación de la producción científica, así como también la reflexión académica de las temáticas relacionadas con las lingüística y literatura, tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Esta revista pertenece a la Escuela de Filología, Lingüística y Literatura y tiene como propósito la publicación del conocimiento producido por sus investigadores, sin dejar de considerar otras producciones fuera de la universidad. De igual manera, persigue el intercambio académico con investigadores de otras universidades y países, ocupados en la indagación de los procesos asociados a tales temáticas. El público meta de la revista son investigadores, estudiantes, profesionales en las áreas de lingüística y literatura y público en general interesado. Su periocidad es semestral. A partir del 2021, el primer número se publica el 1 de enero y comprende los meses de enero a junio, y el segundo número se publica el 1 de julio y comprende los meses de julio a diciembre. La Revista cuenta con las siguientes secciones permanentes: Literatura Artículos académicos sobre literatura en general. Estos documentos son sometidos a evaluación por pares ciegos. Deben seguir lo estipulado en las Normas de presentación de manuscritos. Lingüística Artículos académicos sobre lingüística en general. Estos documentos son sometidos a evaluación por pares ciegos. Deben seguir lo estipulado en las Normas de presentación de manuscritos. Reseñas Textos que desarrollan una reflexión sobre alguna publicación reciente del ámbito de la literatura o la lingüística. Estos documentos no se someten a la evaluación por pares ciegos. El Consejo Editorial es el responsable de evaluar dichos textos según su calidad y pertinencia. El título de las reseñas debe corresponder a la referencia bibliográfica de la obra reseñada y no se traduce, de la siguiente manera: Humberto López Cruz. Tetrapalabra.
