La Revista Colombiana de Obstetricia y Ginecología (RCOG) fue fundada en enero de 1950. Es la publicación periódica oficial de la Federación Colombiana de Obstetricia y Ginecología (FECOLSOG) (antigua Sociedad Colombiana de Obstetricia y Ginecología). Su circulación es trimestral, se publica en los meses de marzo, junio, septiembre y diciembre. La publicación está autorizada por Resolución 218 de 1950, del Ministerio de Gobierno y publica de acuerdo con las Recomendaciones para la realización, informe, edición y publicación de Scholarly Work in Medical Journals (ICMJE) Recommendations (see: http://www.icmje.org/recommendations/). La RCOG publica artículos de investigación en relación con la salud de la mujer en todos los momentos de su ciclo de vida, con énfasis en los campos de la ginecología y la obstetricia y sus diferentes subespecialidades, la salud pública, y aspectos relacionados con género y violencia. Además, publica artículos de educación médica e historia de la medicina. Se da prioridad a las investigaciones de interés nacional, regional e iberoamericano. La Revista Colombiana de Obstetricia y Ginecología publica en promedio 25 artículos científicos por año, previamente revisados por pares, entre ellos se encuentran artículos de investigación original que sigan una metodología cuantitativa o cualitativa, artículos de revisión que sigan metodologías repetibles y verificables, artículos de reflexión, como también estudios de reportes y series de casos. Asimismo, publica Guías de Práctica Clínica, protocolos de manejo y consensos basados en la evidencia. La Revista no publicará revisiones de la literatura de tipo narrativo, excepto si se solicitan de manera puntual. A fin de ver los detalles para el envío de manuscritos, por favor remitirse a las Indicaciones a los autores. La RCOG está citada en los siguientes sistemas: Index Medicus/Medline de la National Library of Medicine, en PubMed Central (PMC), en SciELO Colombia (Scientific Electronic Library Online), en el índice de la Literatura Latinoamericana en Ciencias de la Salud (LILACS), en el Índice Nacional de Publicaciones Seriadas Científicas y Tecnológicas Colombianas de Colciencias (Publindex), en el Índice Mexicano de Revistas Biomédicas Latinoamericanas (Imbiomed), en EBSCO, Scopus y en la Red de Revistas Científicas de América Latina, el Caribe, España y Portugal (RedAlyC).
