La Revista Ciudades, Estados y Política es una de las cuatro líneas editoriales del Centro Editorial del Instituto de Estudios Urbanos (IEU) de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Fue creada según el Acta de Consejo de Instituto n.° 002 del 08 de abril de 2014. La revista publica un volumen anual compuesto por tres números cuatrimestrales y se edita en formato digital de acceso abierto, con circulación nacional e internacional. Esta publicación tiene como objetivo presentar temas de investigación que contribuyan al conocimiento técnico, académico o científico de los estudios urbanos, relacionados con las líneas de investigación del IEU: 1) Ciudades, territorio y Estado y 2) Gobierno urbano y políticas públicas. De esta forma, el IEU procura la democratización del conocimiento especializado en temas urbanos y aporta a la discusión y/o aplicación de los resultados de investigación. A partir de una perspectiva interdisciplinaria, la revista se dirige tanto a investigadores especializados en urbanismo, arquitectura, geografía, ciencias políticas, derecho, economía, sociología, administración pública, historia, filosofía y demás disciplinas relacionadas, como al público general interesado en estos temas. La Revista recibe, a través de convocatoria abierta y permanente, artículos de investigación, reflexión y revisión bibliográfica, en idioma español, de carácter inédito y original, y que no estén en proceso de evaluación simultáneamente con otras revistas.
