A Revista Brasileira de Planejamento e Desenvolvimento (RBPD) surgiu da iniciativa de alguns Programas de Pós-Graduação Stricto Sensu da Área Planejamento Urbano e Regional/Demografia da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES). Trata-se de uma publicação quadrimestral cujo objetivo é a difusão do conhecimento científico através da publicação de artigos analíticos, que apresentem contribuições originais, tanto de natureza empírica quanto teórica, nos campos dos saberes relacionados à sua temática, quais sejam, o Planejamento e o Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social, sobretudo em suas dimensões regionais e urbanas.
