اهداف و چشمانداز فصلنامه راهبرد دفاعی 1. فراهم نمودن محیطی علمی و پویا جهت طرح دیدگاهها و نظریههای پژوهشگران حوزههای راهبردی و دفاعی؛ 2. پاسخگویی و حل مسائل و دغدغههای راهبردی نیروهای مسلح با اولویتدهی به موضوعات کابردی؛ 3. اطلاعرسانی در خصوص مباحث دفاعی در سطحی راهبردی پیرامون مسائل و نیازمندیهای نیروهای مسلح و مراکز مهم تصمیمگیری در کشور؛ 4. بررسی تحولات منطقهای ـ بینالمللی مرتبط با حوزة دفاعی ـ امنیتی کشور؛ 5. کمک به ارتقای سطح دانش علمی و تخصصی متخصصان، کارشناسان در جهت عمقبخشی بیشتر به آگاهی و شناخت تصمیمگیران و مجریان، جهت اعمال سیاستگذاری برای اغتنام بیشتر فرصت ها و مواجهه موثرتر با چالش های مبتلابه کشور و نیروهای مسلح در سطوح مختلف.
