هسته اصلی علم اقتصاد را نظریههای متعدد اقتصادی تشکیل میدهد. اگر چه این نظریهها پایه و اساس علم اقتصاد محسوب میشوند، اما مسلم است که این نظریهها بدون برخورداری از قدرت تبیین روابط و رویدادهای واقعی نمیتوانند اهمیت چندانی برای جوامع بشری داشته باشند. یکی از اهداف اصلی اقتصاد کاربردی، بکارگیری ابزارهای مختلف از جمله روشهای متنوع اقتصادسنجی جهت آزمون این نظریهها و برقراری ارتباط مابین آنها و موقعیتهای واقعی است. خط مشی کلی این نشریه بسط و گسترش مطالعاتی است که با تکیه بر روشهای اقتصادسنجی به کاربردی نمودن نظریههای اقتصادی میپردازند. کاربردی نمودن نظریههای اقتصادی، امکان پیشبینی نتایج بالقوه سیاستهای اقتصادی را فراهم میآورد و از این طریق به برنامهریزان و سیاستگذاران در نیل به اهداف اقتصادی کمک میرساند. علاوه بر این، آزمون عملی نظریههای اقتصادی در درک مباحث اقتصادی توسط دانشجویان و دانشپژوهان اقتصادی نقش بسزایی داشته و مطالعه در حوزه علم اقتصاد را تسهیل مینماید. طیف وسیعی از نظریههای کاربردی در حوزههای اقتصادی مختلف از جمله اقتصاد کار، اقتصاد کسب و کار، سازمانهای صنعتی، اقتصاد توسعه، اقتصاد آموزش و پرورش، اقتصاد سلامت، اقتصاد پولی، اقتصاد بخش عمومی، اقتصاد اسلامی و اقتصاد بینالملل قابل شناسایی است که پژوهش در مورد آنها میتواند منابع ارزشمندی برای دانشپژوهان و سیاستگذاران اقتصادی ایجاد نماید. بنابراین حوزههای مطالعاتی نشریه به شرح زیر میباشد: - رشد و توسعه اقتصادی - تورم و نقدینگی - تجارت الکترونیک و بانکداری - بخش عمومی - تجارت خارجی - اشتغال و تحرک عوامل تولید - توزیع درآمد - بهرهوری و کارایی - فناوری - فضای کسب و کار - تولید، فروش، تبلیغات، تحقیق و توسعه و سایر متغیرهای مربوط به بنگاههای صنعتی انرژی و محیط زیست اقتصاد اسلامی
