Qhali Kay en quechua, lengua nativa de las antiguas civilizaciones andinas, significa salud y bienestar. QhaliKay. Revista de Ciencias de la Salud (ISSN: 2588-0608), en formato electrónico, de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad Técnica de Manabí (Portoviejo, Ecuador), está dirigida a profesionales y estudiantes del área. Entre sus objetivos como instrumento de comunicación científica, se encuentran el promover la cooperación científica, internacionalizar el conocimiento y estimular la discusión académica mediante la publicación cuatrimestral de avances académicos, científicos y tecnológicos en las diferentes disciplinas de las Ciencias de la Salud, a través de casos clínicos, artículos científicos originales, artículos de revisión y de reflexión. La revista acepta manuscritos en español e inglés, que no hayan sido simultáneamente propuestos a otras revistas científicas, los cuales son sometidos a un riguroso proceso de revisión por pares externos a doble ciego, siguiendo los estándares nternacionales. La revista fomenta la presentación de trabajos relacionados tanto con la investigación básica como aplicada sobre enfermería, fisioterapia, ciencias de laboratorio médico, bioquímica y biología molecular y celular, salud ambiental, tecnologías médicas de imagen, radiología y optometría. También se admiten trabajos sobre tecnología farmacéutica, administración de nuevos fármacos, farmacocinética, farmacognosia y productos naturales, química farmacéutica, química computacional y diseño de fármacos moleculares, análisis farmacéutico, farmacología, práctica farmacéutica, farmacia clínica y hospitalaria, genómica y proteómica, farmacogenómica, bioinformática y farmacoeconomía. Además, se aceptan investigaciones sobre aspectos de las ciencias de la nutrición que incluyan bioquímica nutricional y metabolismo; metabolómica; requerimientos de nutrientes para la salud; nutrición y enfermedades; digestión y absorción; antropología nutricional; epidemiología; influencia de factores socioeconómicos y culturales en la nutrición del individuo y la comunidad; consecuencias de la deficiencia nutricional en el crecimiento y desarrollo, sistemas endocrino y nervioso, e inmunidad; nutrición y microbiota intestinal; intolerancia alimentaria y alergias; interacciones entre medicamentos y nutrientes; nutrición y envejecimiento; nutrición y cáncer; obesidad; diabetes; y programas de intervención.
