POLIBOTÁNICA publica artículos científicos originales e inéditos en todas las áreas de la botánica. La revista recibe contribuciones en español, inglés y portugués, con el objetivo de difundir investigaciones originales que contribuyan significativamente al conocimiento de la diversidad vegetal, su conservación, evolución, aprovechamiento sustentable y su relación con la sociedad y el medio ambiente, con especial énfasis en la flora y vegetación de América Latina. Los temas de interés comprenden, entre otros: sistemática y taxonomía; florística, fitogeografía y conservación de la biodiversidad; ecología vegetal y agroecología; anatomía, morfología, fisiología, fitoquímica y biología reproductiva; genética, biología molecular y biotecnología vegetal; etnobotánica y botánica económica; así como micología, ficología, palinología y paleobotánica.
