About this journal 10-year Journal AnniversaryPleura and Peritoneum proudly celebrates its 10-year anniversary, being proud of a decade of impactful contributions to the field of pleural and peritoneal science. We extend our sincere gratitude to all authors, readers, and the committed scientific community whose contributions have been essential to the journal’s growth and success.ObjectivePleura and Peritoneum is the official journal of the International Society for the Study of Pleura and Peritoneum (ISSPP).Peritoneal and pleural infections and oncological diseases often result in life-threatening conditions. However, the pleura (serous membrane, which forms the lining of the pleural cavity) and the peritoneum (serous membrane, which forms the lining of the abdominal cavity) have been relatively poorly studied, as compared to other organs. In sharp contrast to the skin, which i s recognized as an organ and object of a medical specialty, pleura and peritoneum are only considered as membranes. This might be explained by the fact that these organs cannot be seen, neither by clinical examination nor by radiological methods. Pleura and Peritoneum wants to change this by creating a high-level exchange platform for basic scientists, clinical researche r s and physicians.Pleura and Peritoneum is published quarterly. All contributions submitted for publication in Pleura and Peritoneum are subject to single-anonymized peer review by at least two experts in the field, selected and invited by the Editor-in-Chief. Pleura and Peritoneum publishes only English-language articles.Pleura and Peritoneum is an open access journal. To sustain the publication of all fully peer-reviewed manuscripts, each article accepted for publication in Pleura and Peritoneum is subject to an article processing charge (APC), paid by authors' affiliated institutions, funders, sponsors or institutions that have an agreement with us.TopicsDiagnosis and treatment of diseases of the human or gans pleura and peritoneum // Pleural effusions // Laparoscopy // Thoracoscopy // Surgery // Gyn ecology // Imaging // Oncological diseases // Anatomy // Cytology // Gene therapy // Radiotherapy // Systemic drug therapyArticle formatsResearch Article // Review Article // Opinion Paper// Editorial // Letter to the Editor & Reply// Short Communication // Clinical Images // Congress Abstracts Your Benefits Innovative and groundbreaking approach to the study of the pleura and peritoneum Interdisciplinary approach
