Scope
Aims, scope and focus
PLASMA SOURCES SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY is published by IOP Publishing Ltd. and is in Zone 2 of Physics & Astronomy in the CAS Journal Ranking (2025 upgraded edition). By OpenAlex counts of its recent articles, its largest topics are Plasma Diagnostics and Applications, Plasma Applications and Diagnostics and Electrohydrodynamics and Fluid Dynamics, together about 53.1% of its articles. (generated from OpenAlex topic counts and CAS ranking data)
Plasma Sources Science and Technology (PSST) reports on low-temperature plasmas and ionized gases operating over all ranges of gas pressure and plasma density, with varying degrees of ionization. The emphasis of PSST is on the fundamental science of these plasmas, their sources and the physical and chemical processes initiated or sustained by them, as elucidated through theoretical, computational or experimental techniques. PSST also reports on new experimentally or theoretically derived fundamental data (e.g. cross sections, transport coefficients) required for investigation of low temperature plasmas. Reports that relate to the technology and applications of these plasmas should be closely linked to the science and fundamental processes occurring in the plasma state.

Fees & open access
APC and open-access policy
A subscription journal in which authors can pay to publish their article open access.
| Source | APC | Fee waiver | License | Observed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OpenAlex | USD 3,325 / EUR 2,765 / GBP 2,410 | — | — |
A hybrid journal charges the APC only when the author chooses open access; publishing under the subscription model is usually free.
The journal's website is authoritative for fees; sources were observed at different times and each keeps its own value, without averaging.
