8 September, 2026In granular films, where grains bridge the two interfaces of a soap film, the liquid pressure controls the transition from bursting to a jammed state. Even more, a single bursting event combines liquid- and solid-like mechanical responses. By identifying both an effective surface viscosity governing the early liquid-like regime and an internal dissipation controlling the late fracture dynamics, we provide a unified physical picture and highlight the differences between granular films and granular rafts. The concepts introduced here may prove relevant for a broad range of systems in which particles and interfaces interact, from particle-laden foams to biological or bio-inspired membranes.

Only articles that were accepted and published are counted, not the time spent on rejected manuscripts, so this usually runs longer than a publisher's "time to first decision".
Community reports come from authors' own submissions (confidence 0.5) and are not a promise from the journal; for publisher figures, the journal's own definitions apply.
Fees & open access
APC and open-access policy
A subscription journal in which authors can pay to publish their article open access.
No source has fee information yet; check the journal's website.
A hybrid journal charges the APC only when the author chooses open access; publishing under the subscription model is usually free.
The journal's website is authoritative for fees; sources were observed at different times and each keeps its own value, without averaging.
