Perspectives in Psychiatric Care is an international, peer-reviewed journal that advances knowledge at the intersection of psychiatric and mental health nursing and the broader delivery of psychiatric and mental health care. The journal publishes rigorous, original and internationally relevant scholarship that informs practice, education, leadership, services and policy across the lifespan, care settings and health systems. The journal is anchored in psychiatric and mental health nursing. It also welcomes interdisciplinary and interprofessional contributions that make a clear and substantive contribution to nursing or to the organisation, delivery, quality, safety, equity or outcomes of psychiatric and mental health care. Relevance is determined by the contribution of the work, rather than by the professional discipline of its authors. The journal publishes original quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods research; clinical trials and other intervention studies; effectiveness and implementation research; rigorous evaluations of clinical and service innovations; systematic reviews, meta-analyses and other high-quality evidence syntheses; methodological and theoretical papers; health-services and policy analyses; educational and workforce research; and critical, scholarly contributions that advance debate in the field. Areas of particular interest include: Psychiatric and mental health assessment, care planning and clinical decision-making; Nurse-led and multidisciplinary interventions, therapeutic relationships and psychosocial care; Person-centred, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally responsive and rights-based practice; Severe and persistent mental illness, co-occurring conditions, substance use, crisis care, suicide and self-harm prevention; Psychopharmacology and medicines management where relevant to nursing practice and the delivery of care; Patient safety, ethical practice and the reduction of coercive and restrictive practices; Integrated physical and mental health care; Advanced practice, workforce development and sustainability, leadership, education and competence development; Service models, implementation, quality improvement and digital mental health; Mental health inequalities, access to care and the influence of social, cultural and structural determinants; The involvement of people with lived experience, families, carers and communities in care, research and service development.
