Perspectivas Rurales, Nueva Época, es la revista de la Escuela de Ciencias Agrarias de la Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica. Su objetivo es ser un punto de encuentro de la reflexión crítica sobre la complejidad de las dinámicas que configuran lo rural y las ruralidades en el mundo contemporáneo, con especial interés en el caso de América Latina y El Caribe. En este sentido, la revista está abierta para recibir contribuciones que aborden temáticas diversas, desde la dimensión de los sistemas y regímenes agroalimentarios, pasando por los desafíos del cambio climático, la pobreza, desigualdad y violencia que aún imperan en el mundo rural, pero también mirando hacia la relación dinámica entre lo rural y lo urbano a partir de clivajes como la soberanía y seguridad alimentaria, los debates sobre el desarrollo rural desde una perspectiva territorial, la necesidad de dar visibilidad a las demandas y luchas de actores como las mujeres y los jóvenes, los pueblos indígenas, comunidades rurales tradicionales y movimientos sociales, entre otros, cuyas agendas se definen en disputa por el reconocimiento, la inclusión y la participación social y la construcción de políticas públicas que permitan una plena realización del potencial de las poblaciones rurales sobre la base de su autodeterminación. Además, y como corolario de todo lo anterior, la revista Perspectivas Rurales, Nueva Época, está abierta a la reflexión sobre la transición urgente hacia regímenes alimentarios sustentables basados en la agroecología como paradigma, convocando por ello miradas inter y transdisciplinarias para la construcción del conocimiento y la relación de este último con una práctica transformadora.
