Perifèria es una iniciativa de los/as doctorandos/as del departamento de Antropología Social y Cultural de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, apoyada por la dirección y el profesorado del programa de doctorado. El proyecto surgió de la necesidad de conocer eficazmente la investigación generada en nuestro departamento, tanto del doctorando, como del profesorado y otros/as investigadores/as. Entendemos que el valor diferencial del doctorado, frente a otros módulos de aprendizaje, es la práctica, la experiencia y la producción investigadora. Es la base del capital intelectual que puede conferir un valor añadido a nuestro programa de doctorado, tanto como oferta de capacitación, como de generación de conocimiento en el ámbito universitario y sociolaboral. Desde esta perspectiva, la revista se concibe en la actualidad como una herramienta esencial para la gestión del conocimiento: un canal de difusión de la investigación desarrollada, para la reutilización de la experiencia y la producción generada por el doctorando y los grupos de investigación del departamento. De este modo, creemos que este recurso puede incrementar su valor como herramienta de aprendizaje y difusión, al contribuir no sólo a la capacitación de cada doctorando/a y a la visibilidad de su trabajo, sino al desarrollo del aprendizaje colectivo.
