PACO is an Italian-based international journal specialising in social and political studies. The journal publishes research on the transformations of politics and its key actors, including political parties, interest groups, social movements, associations, trade unions and other collective actors. Particular attention is devoted to the dynamics of participation, both among individuals engaging through conventional channels and among those adopting protest-oriented repertoires of action. The journal also examines the transformation of contemporary political systems, with a specific focus on processes of democratisation and on the spaces opened up by new forms of governance at the local, subnational and supranational levels. These processes are situated within the broader and complex phenomenon of the transnationalisation of social, political and economic relations, while also acknowledging the continuing relevance of the nation-state. The journal promotes innovative and methodologically rigorous research, drawing on the most recent theoretical and empirical contributions in the social and political sciences. * Publication in PACO is free of charge * Since 2014, the journal has been published in English and accepts only papers presenting original research or studies that have not been previously published and are not currently under review by other journals. PACO is also affiliated with the Centre for Conflict and Participation Studies (CCPS) at the University of Salento.
