Celem czasopisma „Paidia i Literatura” jest ogląd polskiej oraz obcej literatury dla dzieci i młodzieży z perspektywy współczesnych nurtów w humanistyce, które mogą zostać włączone do teoretycznego i krytycznego instrumentarium, jakim dysponują badania nad literaturą dla niedorosłych. Artykuły zamieszczane na łamach rocznika podejmują zagadnienia związane nie tylko ze współczesną literaturą/(pop)kulturą dla dzieci i młodzieży, ale również z jej kanonem odczytywanym przede wszystkim przez pryzmat różnorodności stanowisk, jaką proponuje nowa humanistyka. Oczekuje się, że tematyka artykułów włączy problematykę związaną z literaturą dla niedorosłych do obszaru współczesnych studiów humanistycznych, w przypadku kanonu rewitalizując jej repertuar edukacyjny, a w przypadku niekanoniczych tekstów, prezentując problemy współczesności, których skala oraz intensywność nie może być zignorowana przez edukację.
