Časopis je posvećen radovima iz oblasti opšte medicine i drugih medicinskih disciplina koje su od interesa za opštu medicinu-porodičnu medicinu. Časopis Opšta medicina objavljuje originalne, prethodno neobjavljene radove: Originalni naučni (stručni) rad ili prikaz slučaja (pod originalnim naučnim radom se podrazumeva rad u kome se prvi put objavljuju rezultati sopstvenih istraživanja).
