A Novos Olhares tem como foco valorizar a abordagem diferenciada sobre um amplo leque de temas dentro do campo das práticas midiáticas. Dentre eles, destacam-se: práticas e processos da comunicação audiovisual, em seus desdobramentos no cinema, rádio, TV e internet, analisados a partir de um viés técnico, social ou discursivo; as linguagens aplicadas às tecnologias da comunicação midiática; as mediações sociais e culturais realizadas pelas mídias; o jornalismo e os caminhos da informação noticiosa; a convergência midiática e seus impactos sociais; formas de conteúdo e interações vinculadas às mídias sociais baseadas em internet; as transformações culturais implicadas com e pelo uso das tecnologias de informação e comunicação; questões de pertencimento e identidade vinculadas à exposição midiática. Em especial, serão priorizados: 1) trabalhos que sejam frutos de pesquisa científica cujos resultados apontem para temas e problemas atuais relacionados às práticas da comunicação midiática.2) trabalhos que promovam uma releitura histórica e, por meio de novos dados, tragam contribuições a debates consolidados, permitindo maior clareza e compreensão dos desafios contemporâneos do campo midiático.3) ensaios lastreados em levantamento bibliográfico, que contribuam para a construção do conhecimento teórico a partir de leituras atualizadas de teorias institucionalizadas. Textos fora do escopo da revista terão seus méritos julgados pelos editores da revista, e poderão ser publicados desde tragam relevante contribuição ao campo da Comunicação.
