Nordisk välfärdsforskning | Nordic Welfare Research is a peer-reviewed, research journal. The journal is published open access and free of charge. The content consists of research articles based on empirical studies and theoretical analyses of high academic quality. The articles published represent a broad spectrum of social science research on the Nordic welfare societies. This applies to topics such as living conditions, public health, working life, welfare services and development in areas such as health, care and social work. It also includes, for example, initiatives aimed at sections of the population such as children, young people, the elderly and people with disabilities. The editorial team welcomes manuscripts that address comparative dimensions across the Nordic countries. Manuscripts that critically reflect on the concept of welfare as a phenomenon are particularly welcome. Authors from outside the Nordic region are encouraged to submit manuscripts for consideration. The journal publishes open issues and special issues. Articles in open issues are published consecutively. In all submitted articles, authors should endeavour to place their contributions clearly in a Nordic welfare policy context. Two regular issues are published annually. In addition, there are special issues. Peer-reviewed research articles are published in Danish, English, Norwegian and Swedish. The languages have equal status in the journal’s publishing policy. The journal's audiences are researchers and academics, students, political and administrative decision makers, welfare state professionals, NGOs and the general public. Nordisk välfärdsforskning | Nordic Welfare Research is published by Scandinavian University Press on behalf of Nordic Welfare Center, NOVA – Norwegian Social Research and Fafo Institute for Labour and Social Research. Peer review All research articles that are considered relevant for publication in the journal are reviewed by at least two anonymous academic referees with no ties to the author. In addition, the article is reviewed by the journal's editorial board and the final decision regarding publication of the article is made by the Editor-in-Chief. The journal practices "double blind" peer review, whereby both reviewers and the author remain anonymous to each other. The journal does not ask for any fees for assessment or publication.
