«Московский журнал международного права» создан в 1991 г. как открытая академическая трибуна для различных, подчас и противоположных точек зрения на современное международное право, толкование его конкретных принципов и норм. Спектр рассматриваемых в журнале теоретических и практических юридических вопросов традиционно широкий; он включает в себя вопросы теории международного права; правовые проблемы территории и международной безопасности; средства урегулирования споров государств; вопросы международного гуманитарного права; проблемы реализации космического и воздушного права; право международных организаций; дипломатическое и консульское право; морское право; право международных договоров; международное экономическое право, включая его инвестиционную, торговую, финансовую составляющие; международно-правовые вопросы охраны окружающей среды и устойчивого развития; трансграничные вопросы борьбы с преступностью; международно-правовые аспекты массовой информации, включая статус киберпространства; проблематику соотношения международного и национального (внутригосударственного) права.
