اهداف اهمیت روزافزون علوم امنیتی و نقش بنیادین امنیت ملی در تحقق سلامت و حفاظت از ارکان، کارکردها و بنیان های نظام سیاسی و تفکر راهبردی حاکم بر آن، ایجاب می کند که ضمن اهتمام به روش شناختی این علوم و نقد و ارزیابی نتایج و دستاوردهای آن؛ با تلاش مضاعفی در استخراج مبانی و دیدگاه های اسلامی و ولایی در حوزه علوم انسانی با رویکرد امنیت ملی پرداخته شود. بنابراین تولید دانش در این حوزه از اهمیت و جایگاه والایی برخوردار است. در فصلنامه امنیت ملی با تأکید بر این رویکرد؛ تلاش شده است تا مخاطبان را از طریق جذب و انعکاس مقالات علمی- پژوهشی با این هدف آشنا و ظرفیت مناسبی را در انتقال دانش و آگاهی های حوزه امنیت ملی در اختیار ایشان قرار دهد. چشم انداز 1. فراهم نمودن محیطی علمی و پویا جهت طرح دیدگاهها و نظریههای پژوهشگران حوزههای امنیت ملی؛ 2. پاسخگویی و حل مسائل و دغدغههای راهبردی نیروهای مسلح با اولویتدهی به موضوعات کابردی؛ 3. اطلاعرسانی در خصوص مباحث امنیتی در سطحی ملی پیرامون مسائل و نیازمندیهای نیروهای مسلح و مراکز مهم تصمیمگیری در کشور؛ 4. بررسی تحولات منطقهای ـ بینالمللی مرتبط با حوزة دفاعی ـ امنیتی کشور؛ 5. کمک به ارتقای سطح دانش علمی و تخصصی متخصصان، کارشناسان در جهت عمقبخشی بیشتر به آگاهی و شناخت تصمیمگیران و مجریان، جهت اعمال سیاستگذاری برای اغتنام بیشتر فرصت ها و مواجهه موثرتر با چالش های مبتلابه کشور و نیروهای مسلح در سطوح مختلف. حوزه ها و محورهای موضوعی فصلنامه امنیت ملی : بیان کارکردها و مطالبات نوین از امنیت ملی در برابر کارکردهای کلاسیک و سنتی جایگاه روش شناسی علوم انسانی در پیشبرد کمی و کیفی امنیت ملی بررسی تطبیقی مکاتب امنیت ملی با نیازهای نوین کشورها بررسی سیر تحول امنیت ملی در مکاتب و اندیشه های سیاسی بررسی مبانی فلسفی و کلامی تفکر و دانش امنیت ملی در نگاه اسلام و ولایت روش شناسی ترویج گفتمان دینی و بومی امنیت ملی روش شناسی استفاده از متون دینی و به خصوص متون اسلامی در کارکردهای امنیت ملی بررسی آسیب شناسانه کاستی ها و چالش های امنیت ملی در ابعاد محیطی و ساختاری نقد رویکردهای گوناگون امنیت ملی با تأکید بر نیازهای راهبردی کشور بررسی و نقد فلسفی و روشی سیاست های امنیت منطقه ای و جهانی در عرصه های مؤثر بر امنیت ملی کشور نظریه پردازی و انعکاس رویکردهای خلاق و نظریه های نو در موضوع امنیت ملی
